Ulsan has maintained a historical connection with whales dating back to ancient times. Within the Daegok-ri Bangudae Petroglyph, intricate depictions of sizable whales, including northern right whales, sperm whales, and humpback whales, along with dolphins, are prominently featured. The petroglyph also intricately captures scenes of whale capture.

The associated ink evokes the imagery of a whale gracefully navigating the serene sea, presented in a calm navy blue without any discernible sheen.
